The Farmhouse

Size: Varies

Completed in 1990, this turn-of-the-century home situated on a 200-acre farm was in a state of disrepair. The primary design objective was to preserve and enrich the essence of the original farmhouse while accommodating the clients' need for additional living space and a repositioned entryway.

To achieve this, the back sections of the building were dismantled to make way for a two-story extension centered around a family room with a cathedral ceiling. The original front porch was replaced with a more delicate veranda, matching the new additions at the front and rear entrances.

The new extension incorporates traditional elements that mirror the local architectural style, using board and batten siding to complement the existing structure. Additionally, the original brick was meticulously cleaned and turned inside out to present a pristine facade to the new living area.
