Whether it is worrying about global warming, water shortages or watching in dismay as garbage piles up during the City of Toronto’s strike, the environment and our impact on the environment is on our minds everyday. We are all responsible for our environment and need to do our part to ensure its protection. That is why onespace is committed to environmental sustainability in everything we do. We truly are thinking and acting green, so that we are doing our part to make a difference.

onespace is actively changing the face of architecture and interior design with our commitment to the environment. Yet, we understand that we can’t do this alone. It takes all of our partners working together with a shared goal and a commitment to making our world a better place. From the ground up, we work with a variety of vendors to create and provide environmentally friendly materials, products and packaging.

We want to hear about new environmentally-products from manufacturers serving the construction industry. We want to hear from you. If you have new innovative, environmentally sustainable products, contact us. Together, we can make a difference: for today, tomorrow and the future.

For architectural products, please email dennis@onespaceunlimited.com.

The PUG Awards, that is, the People’s Choice Awards for Urban Design, is an awards program that recognizes the best new architectural elements in Toronto. It’s open to the public to vote for the residential, commercial and institutional developments that you love in our city. Their primary objective is to focus attention on new developments in an effort to celebrate architecture. And guess what? We’ve been nominated! Our 9T6 Condo, a 17-story condominium residence in the heart of the City’s Art District, has been nominated for a PUG and we couldn’t be happier!

Contemporary materials were used to establish the building’s identity within a diverse residential and commercial urban context. Its privately landscaped terrace is based on a modern plaza with many level changes, signifying different uses for each space. This modern, innovative approach to architecture is an example of how we bring our vision to reality and help to improve our cities, our communities, our world – one project at a time.
Voting has been ongoing throughout the month of May and is now closed, so we hope you were counted! Winners will be announced shortly. onespace is honoured to have been nominated for such a prestigious award and we wish to thank you for your continued support. We’re changing the face of architecture and interior design with our commitment to our environment and our people. This nomination validates that what we do is making a difference.

By the way, check out this article that was published in The Star on April 18th about our PUG-nominated 9T6 condo!
9T6 Condo a celebration of transparency… Christopher Hume, The Star

Recently, we launched our new brand – onespace unlimited. Why? Because we realized that the way we live our lives today is different from when Atkins Group was first established in 1964. Our awareness of the new ways of working, living, learning, designing and building indicated change was necessary, so that’s what we did!

We’re still one team working together, though. We’re still the architects, interior designers, marketers, engineers, trades, clients and interests that provide these services across the residential, commercial, industrial, institutional and retail sectors worldwide. We’re just greener! We’re more aware of our environment than ever and we’re very excited to incorporate sustainability into our everyday lives, as well as of those we serve. We want to change the face of architecture with our devotion to the environment.

With this blog, we plan to keep you updated on our initiatives and successes, future projects and growth. To keep you involved in what we’re doing to better our communities, our environment and each other. If you require further information about anything posted or have questions or ideas you’d like to see written about, please contact me.

Think, dream, share, interact, envision, achieve and have fun with us!

Vaughan, ON – April 1, 2009 – onespace is pleased to announce it is continuing to build on its commitment to environmental sustainability with the recent LEED® AP designation of partner
Roy Turner.

“I am delighted to receive my LEED® AP designation to further highlight onespace’s commitment to the environment,” said Roy. “It’s an additional benefit we can now provide our clients to help them meet their own goals of enhancing green living.”

LEED® is a third-party certification program and an internationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings. It is a point-based rating system, in which points are given to buildings for using a LEED® Accredited Professional. The Canadian Green Building Council is responsible for the LEED® rating system for buildings in Canada.

“We launched onespace to highlight our commitment to exceptional service, style, design and teamwork, as well as our devotion to the environment,” replied Roy. “Today, we’re moving one step closer to a greener world. The LEED® certification program is an exceptional program that will ensure green architectural and interior design projects come to life.”

onespace unlimited inc. was launched in 1964 as Atkins Group and today provides architectural and interior design services across the residential, commercial, industrial, institutional and retail sectors, both in North America and overseas. Its vision ensures the protection of all Canadians by making every effort to preserve the environment. Roy Turner joined Atkins Architects in 1994, then as a principal in 2000 and has received many accolades for his projects in retail, commercial, assembly, hotels and mixed-use projects of various sizes and locations.

onespace unlimited is committed to environmental sustainability. Their vision ensures the protection of all Canadians by making every effort to preserve the environment.
